Mahalakshmi temple At Bheemunipatnam

Bheemunipatnam, the second oldest municipality in the country, will now have the distinction of the second temple of its kind in the country for goddess Mahalakshmi. The Mahalakshmi temple at Kolhapur in Maharashtra has seen that region swell in economy and Mumbai became the financial capital of the country. Similarly, Sadguru Kandukuri Sivananda Murthy, who built the temple at his Anandavanam in Bheemunipatnam , is hopeful that his temple will become rich and make the entire region prosperous. The opening of the Adyadi Sree Mahalakshmi temple itself was very special with Jagadguru Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Sri Jayendra Saraswathi coming all the way from Tamil Nadu to install the idol of the deity carved out of special stone from Orissa. There is no hundi, nor any charges for darshan or puja. Therefore, special pujas for the sake individuals are not performed.

NComputing to power computer education in State

Over 18 lakh schoolchildren across the State are all set to learn the basics of using a computer and different software thanks to the shared computing technology provided by a U.S. based company, NComputing.
The technology was chosen by the government to implement a massive computer education programme in over 5,000 secondary schools of the State.
According to the programme, each school will have a 10-seat computer lab with two desktop PC’s and eight NComputing systems for students to learn the basics of a computer.
An NComputing system works on a shared basis wherein each student’s monitor, keyboard and mouse are connected to a shared PC through a small NComputing access device.
The device will help the school cut electricity costs as it uses one watt of electricity, which is very low compared to a normal PC, informed Chairman and CEO of NComputing, Stephen Dukker.
The systems will have Microsoft Windows Server operating system and Microsoft Office Suite for students to learn in addition to acquiring computer skills and learning subjects such as maths, said Chairman and Corporate Vice- President of Microsoft India Ravi Venkatesan.

N-power plant likely in Kadapa

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday approved the proposal of AP Genco to establish the first nuclear power plant of 2 X 1000 MW, either at Kadapa or Srikakulam. A press release issued by the Chief Minister’s office said that Andhra Pradesh had the advantage of availability of uranium in Kadapa, location of Nuclear Fuel Complex in hyderabad, a heavy water plant at Manuguru, easy availability of land and water besides a coastline.

Eight New Passport Facilitation Centres To State

Out of the 68 Passport Facilitation Centres (PFCs) to come up in the country, eight will be in Andhra Pradesh.
Officials on Monday told that three PFCs would be set up in hyderabad, one in Telangana and two each in Rayalaseema and Andhra regions. A PFC would act as a centre where the front-end of the passport application procedures, such as filing of application forms, scrutiny, photo scanning and remittance of fee could be done. The scheme would be outsourced to private companies.
Employees of the Passport Office would be deployed at each of the PFCs to guide the operations.

Dell opens centre for SOS Children’s Village

Students of the SOS Children’s Village in Vottinagulapally on Monday sang songs, enjoyed reading comic books in their library while a few others dabbled with the sleek Dell machines in the newly-constructed computer lab.
A Dell learning centre was inaugurated on the school premises on Monday by Rajeev Kapoor, site director of hyderabad Dell International Services. The company built a small building that housed a new library, music room and computer centre. The computer lab, company officials claimed, would have 20 computers with Internet facility. Tabla, sitar, guitar, harmonium, kanjeera, congo, synthesiser, violin and dholak are the musical instruments given to the school. A few books were also added to the school library, as part of the initiative.
The centre would enable students to update their computer skills, gain exposure to music and cultivate reading habit, said Mr. Kapoor.

A New Govt Degree College Sanctioned For Warangal

Warangal legislator B. Saraiah on Friday announced that the State government had sanctioned a government degree college.
Mr. Saraiah, accompanied by officials of R&B, Education and Revenue departments, visited the government school at Shambunipet area where the degree college would be set up soon.
“The government has sanctioned Rs. 30 lakh in the first phase.
“The college will offer BA, B.Com. and B.Sc. to begin with and soon it will be upgraded into a PG centre in future,” he told the cheering students of school and junior college there.
